SIMBOL DALAM UPACARA ADAT DAYAK NGAJU (SYMBOLS IN RITUAL TRIBE OF DAYAK NGAJU)

Symbol in ritual tribe of Dayak Ngaju. Ritual tribe is a form dedication of society Dayak Ngaju toRanying Hatalla (lord), Gods, spirit of ancestor or other holy spirits, and in their efford to communicatedwith their Gods to get safe life . This research important to do for keep Dayak Ngaju culture before thatculture lost and missing. Purpose of this research to describe form, meaning, dan function of symbol inritual tribe of Dayak Ngaju. Approaching of this research using kualitative descritive methode/approach,which is a model research to make accurately and deeply description about usage symbol in ritual tribe.This reseach focus to verbal dan nonverbal symbol in ritual tribe of Dayak Ngaju. Object of this researchdo at Kapuas Regency. Based of the result research show that ritual tribe of Dayak Ngaju is a way tocommunicated with Ranying Hatalla (God). From ten rituals tribe of Dayak Ngaju there got manysymbol, which are; 1) Tiwah ritual have 18 symbols, 14 nonverbal symbol, and 4 verbal symbols; 2)Marriage ritual have 47 symbols, 44 nonverbal symbols, and 3 verbal symbols; 3) Manajah Antangritual have 12 symbols, 10 nonverbal symbols, dan 2 symbols verbal; 4) Death ritual have 10 symbols, 9nonverbal symbols, and 1 verbal symbol; 5) Mapalas ritual have 11 simbols, 10 nonverbal symbols, and1 verbal symbol; 6) Pregnancy ritual have 5 nonverbal symbols; 7) Sangiang ritual have 11 symbols, 7verbal symbols, and 4 nonverbal symbols, 8) Manetek pantan have 8 nonverbal symbols and 1 verbalsymbol; 9) Mamapas lewu ritual have 7 symbols, 5 nonverbal symbols and 2 verbal symbols; 10)Laluhanhave 6 symbols, 5 nonverbal symbol and 1 verbal symbol. In ritual tribe Dayak Ngaju, expression ofmalahap ( o lo lo lo kiuuu), rice (behas), animal blood (daha meto), and egg always in every ritual tribeof Dayak Ngaju. Rice, animal blood, and egg not only just be a complement of main food, but also haveanother meaning. Malahap is a symbol expression enthusiasm of Dayak Ngaju, Rice (Behas) as effectivemedia communication symbol between human being and Ranying Hattala. Meanwhile, animal bloodfrom pig, buffalo, and chicken are using to netralize the bad things or bad spirit. These blood symbolizerelationship between other creature, relation between another human being. The function of these bloodis to cooling down or to netralize. The egg that use in every ritual tribe is a symbol of relationship betweenhuman being, and also be symbol of peace and tranquillity.Key words: symbols, ritual trib
