STRUKTUR TEKS, KOGNISI SOSIAL, DAN DIMENSI SOSIAL PIDATO SUSILO BAMBANG YUDHOYONO (TEXT STRUCTURE, SOCIAL COGNITION, AND SOCIAL DIMENSION SUSILO BAMBANG YUDHOYONO’S SPEECH)

Text Structure, Social Cognition, and Social Dimension Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono’s Speech. This study examines thoughts and ideas of Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono as the sixth Indonesian Republic President through his speeches. This study aimed to describe the structure of the text, social cognition, and social dimensions Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono’s speech on democracy.This study used a qualitative method with critical discourse analysis approach developed by Teun A. van Dijk called social cognition. The results of the study are (1) On the text structure, generally the speech material is about the better changes of Indonesian democracy, it prepared with a particular organizational pattern so the idea becomes more prominent, and the idea of the superiority of democracy is highlighted, while the weaknesses is obscured. (2) On the social cognition, the writer shows personal knowledge, groups, and communities about the democracy superiority and its impact to Indonesia, the writer thinks that the democracy based on Pancasila is suitable for Indonesia as solution for kinds some of problems in Indonesia transitional era, it also believed to be the good governmental system, while the others are bad. (3) On social dimension, huge access and power are owned by Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to spread his thoughts and ideas. Besides that, democracy is a governmental system which is accepted by lots of people.Key words: speech, text structure, social cognition, social dimension
