KESANTUNAN TINDAK TUTUR DIREKTIF ANTARGURU DI SDIT UKHUWAH BANJARMASIN (THE POLITENESS OF DIRECTIVE SPEECH ACT USED AMONG TEACHERS OF SDIT UKHUWAH BANJARMASIN)

The Politeness of Directive Speech Act Used among Teachers of SDIT Ukhuwah Banjarmasin. Inthe interactions at school, the politeness of teachers’ speech acts plays roles to maintain harmony amongteachers and to provide a model of character and etiquette or moral education for students. This studyaimed to describe the politeness of directive speech actsused among the teachers of SDIT UkhuwahBanjarmasin.This research aimed to objectively describe: (1) the politeness forms ofdirective speechacts used among teachers, (2) the politeness strategies of directive speech acts used among teachers, and(3) the politeness functions of directive speech acts used among teachers. The approach used in thisresearchwas qualitative approach. This research was conducted in SDIT Ukhuwah Banjarmasin.The dataobtained were in the forms of speech acts used among the teachers in their daily interactions at school.This research used observations, interviews, and documentation. The collected data were analyzed usingdescriptive and qualitative techniques. The conclusions were drawn deductively. The results show thatthe directive speech acts used among the teachers in SDIT Ukhuwah containsome forms, strategies, andfunction of politeness. The politeness of directive speech acts used among the teachers occurs in the formsof ordering, requesting, suggesting, and questioning. Those four speech acts are signified with the use ofthe expressions sorry, can you help me, excuse me, and the use of descriptive and interrogative sentences.The politeness strategies in the teachers’ directive speech acts are direct and off-record. Meanwhile, thepoliteness functions in the teachers’ directive speech acts appear in ordering, requesting, suggesting andquestioning.Key words: politeness, directive speech acts, politeness forms, politeness strategies, politeness function
