DEIKSIS PADA NOVEL BULAN TERBELAH DI LANGIT AMERIKA KARYA HANUM SALSABIELA RAIS DAN RANGGA ALMAHENDRA (DEIXIS IN THE NOVEL OF BULAN TERBELAH DI LANGIT AMERIKA BY HANUM SALSABIELA RAIS AND RANGGA ALMAHENDRA)

Deixis in the Novel of Bulan Terbelah di Langit Amerika by Hanum Salsabiela Rais and RanggaAlmahendra. The purpose of this research was to describe (1) person deixis, (2) spatial deixis, (3)temporal deixis, (4) discourse deixis, and than (5) social deixis in Bulan Terbelah di Langit Amerikanovel by Hanum Salsabiela Rais and Rangga Almahendra. The approach used in this research wasqualitative approach. The type of the research was pragmatic. This research used descriptive method.The source of data was from the novel Bulan Terbelah di Langit Amerika by Hanum Salsabiela Raisand Rangga Almahendra. The data in this research consist of words and sentences. To collect the datathe writer used literature review. The data analysis technique was content analysis. The research resultsshow that there are five types of deixis in the novel Bulan Terbelah di Langit Amerika, namely (1) persondeixis, which is divided into three kinds: first person, such as I, my, and we; second person, such as you;third person, such as she, he, it, and they; (2) spatial deixis, such as here and there, (3) temporal deixis,such as yesterday, now, and tomorrow; (4) discourse deixis, which consist of anaphora and cataphora;and (5) social deixis, such as euphemism, honorific, profession and title. The research also shows thatdeixis relates to intrinsic elements of the novel, such as character, setting, and diction. Person deixis canhelp the reader to know about the characters. Spatial deixis and temporal deixis can help the reader toknow the setting in the novel. Discourse deixis and social deixis help the reader to know the diction inthis novel.Key words: person deixis, spatial deixis, temporal deixis, discourse deixis, social deixi
