114 p.Thesis (Ph.D.)--University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, 2005.The focus of this research was to monitor the folding of a single protein molecule using sp-FRET. In order to accomplish this task, surface modification of a glass coverslip was necessary to prevent non-specific binding. Modification of the surface was accomplished by derivatizing the surface with PEG's and dextrans. Also, the surface was modified using a metal coated AFM tip, resulting in nanolithography of the surface which was observed using confocal microscopy.U of I OnlyRestricted to the U of I community idenfinitely during batch ingest of legacy ETD
