125 p.Thesis (Ph.D.)--University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, 1998.A hybrid technique is also developed to compute scattering from a body of revolution (BOR) with appendages. First, the FEM is used to compute the scattering from the BOR with the appendages removed. The incident field on the appendages in the presence of the BOR is then known, and the method of moments (MoM) with an approximate Green's function is used to determine the resulting current. The radiation of this current is computed by reciprocity and added to the scattering from the BOR. Numerical results show the validity and utility of this technique.U of I OnlyRestricted to the U of I community idenfinitely during batch ingest of legacy ETD
