Metamaterials (MMs) research has gained widespread attention in the past decade due to advances in fabrication methods, the realization of its interesting optical properties, and the potential applications. It is a technology that combines the physics of plasmonics and optics. MMs can be used as optical components that are simultaneously thin and flat, called metasurfaces; these materials are useful for the integration with other electrical devices such as transistors. One of the main challenges of this field is in the fabrication methods.
