This circular is based on a study of storage requirements for various kinds of household articles which the University of Illinois Department of Home Economics conducted. The study provides basic facts on measurement, arrangement, and use of storage space as an aid to architects, builders and others interested in designing and building houses. The material differs from usual presentations on storage space in that 1) recommended dimensions for storage units are based on measurements of items stored, and 2) dimensions are, for the most part, based on the 4-inch module in order to achieve construction savings which the use of the modular design principle makes possible
