147 p.Thesis (Ph.D.)--University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, 1988.Red leaf blotch, caused by Dactuliochaeta glycines, of soybeans (Glycine max) was studied in field trials in Zambia, Africa and the causal agent was examined under quarantine conditions in the laboratory at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC).Dactuliochaeta, a new genus, was established to accommodate Pyrenochaeta glycines and its synanamorphic state, Dactuliophora glycines. The genus is characterized by setose sclerotia which germinate to form mycelia, then setose pycnidia, and/or pycnidia and sclerotia on sclerotial surfaces.
