The present study examined the educational attainments of young adults who have been emancipated from the foster care system. Data for this study were taken from a sub-set of youth who participated in the Foster Youth Project at the University of Illinois. Findings from the study suggest that the educational attainments of youth discharged from foster care are influenced by factors similar to their peers in the general population. Age at the time of interview and educational aspirations contributed most to the educational outcomes of project youth.
