To what extent are the school programs socially engaged and how accountable or committed are they?

This project aims to answer the following main question: To what extent are the school programs socially engaged and how accountable or committed are they? And the following subquestions: 1) How do UIUC programs in Architecture, Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning empower or influence their students with regard to their physical and social environment? 2) Why does society discount the physical environment? And why do the design disciplines discount the social environment? 3) How does society benefit from the physical influences of the design profession? 4) What problems may arise when the design professionals ignore potential social implications? 5) Does the design success depend on the interaction of both the physical and social connectivity? On the basis of 14 interviews, the results show that there is a great desire and need for social engagement or a response to the social aspect of environments, but this is not successfully addressed.unpublishe
