Improving teachers professionalism through materials development, information technology and classroom action research

Abstract: One of the ways to promote the International standard schoolsteacher professionalism was to carry out weekly workshops on material developmentbased on curriculum pathways of the National Plus High Schoolsusing the Information Technology (IT) facilities. This research developedteacher-made materials for the X grade. The materials were graded: narrative,recount, news item, descriptive, ranging from 250 to 500 words. Thematerials were then tried out in a Classroom Action Research (CAR) at eightclasses of X grades. Based on previous research, teachers preferences aremade in line with the students choice of issues to be discussed. It aimed atknowing the feasibility of the materials, the students preference of exercisesand students level of competencies of each class related to the understandingof the units. Results of the questionnaires showed that most of the materialswere understood and liked by the students. Thus, professionalism wasseen during the process of the CAR.20 hl
