Numerical simulation of transient phase-change processes is massively time consuming, and can benefit from parallel processing to reduce the computational costs. In the present work, an implicit finite-volume-based three-dimensional, transient, turbulent model is developed to describe the transport phenomena for a typical laser surface alloying process, and the code is subsequently parallelized for effective computational economy. Parallelization of the code is done following the pipelining method, which uses temporal parallelism in a distributed computing environment and runs on a cluster of workstations (COW) connected with local area networking (LAN).
