Genetic analysis of 36 varieties resistant to bacterial blight revealed that in 33 of these, resistance is conveyed by a single gene (Xa-4 or Xa-5 or Xa-10) and in the remaining 3 by two genes (Xa-4+Xa-10 or Xa-4+Xa-5).
