Recent advances are reviewed in three major approaches to the analysis of exhaust mufflers: aeroacoustic, finite element, and finite wave. Contributions in the last four years are assessed in the context of earlier work as well as contemporary work. Emphasis is on application and usefulness in design of exhaust mufflers
