Dry seeds of well-adapted variety PL 639 of lentil were subjected to 50 Kr, 100 Kr, and 200 Kr doses of gamma rays and to three concentrations of 0.1, 0.2, and 0.3 of ethyl methane sulphonate (EMS) for six hours. The M2 and M3 generations were screened for the spectrum and frequency of macromutations. The spectrum of macromutations was found to be wider in EMS treatments than in gamma ray treatments. Segregation patterns in all the mutation types suggested monogenic recessive control
