Observations of ionospheric drift made at high-latitude stations by different methods has been examined by several investigators with the view of studying the dependence of speed and direction of drift on magnetic activity. From such studies, it has generally been concluded that speeds of drift of the F2 region increase with increase of magnetic activity. As it was found that drifts of the F2 region at Waltair show a significantly different behaviour from those at high latitudes, we have examined the results of the F2 drifts at Waltair with the view of ascertaining the nature and the extent of this dependence on magnetic activity
