Butyltin triisopropoxide, BuSn(OPr-i)3, reacts with various alkanolamines, viz. HOCH2 CH2NH2, HOCH2CH2CH2NH2, HOCH2CH2NHMe, (HOCH2CH2)2NH and (HOCH2CH2)3N in different molar ratios to yield cyclic derivatives. Identical products are obtained by the reactions of BuSnO 3/2 with HOCH2CH2NHMe and (HOCH2CH2)3N. Alcoholysis reactions of BuSn(OPr-i)3 with HOXNMe2 (X = CH2CH2 and CHMeCH2) yield distillable BuSn(OPr-i)3-n (OXNMe2)n (n = 1, 2 and 3) according to molar ratios of the reactants.
