STUDI HIDRODINAMIKA PADA PROSES PRODUKSI BIOHIDROGEN DALAM TANGKI BERPENGADUK BERBASIS CFD

Mixing telah terbukti mempengaruhi proses produksi biogas khususnya biohydrogen secara fermentatif anaerobik. Faktor hidrodinamika seperti kecepatan putar pengadukan, jenis impeller dan konfigurasi impeller juga sangat mempengaruhi proses produksi biohidrogen dalam tangki berpengaduk. Jenis impeller dan konfigurasi impeller yang berbeda akan menghasilkan pola alir yang bebeda pula sehingga yield gas hydrogen yang dihasilkanpun berbeda. Untuk mengetahui pengaruh factor hidrodinamika pada proses produksi biohidrogen dalam tangki berpengaduk dapat dilakukan dengan simulasi menggunakan Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD). CFD dapat memprediksi aliran fluida, perpindahan panas dan massa, reaksi kimia dan fenomena lain yang terkait dengan memecahkan serangkaian persamaan matematika yang sesuai sehingga dapat diketahui detail fenomena hidrodinamika yang terjadi dalam reactor berpengaduk. Memahami fenomena hidrodinamika yang terlibat dalam produksi biohydrogen ini merupakan hal yang sangat diperlukan untuk malakukan scale-up. Penelitian dilakukan pada tangki berpengaduk dasar datar 5L yang dilengkapi dengan 4 baffle. Diameter dalam tangki adalah 0,18 m. Pada penlitian ini digunakan 2 jenis pengaduk yaitu 6-blade 45° Inclined Blade Turbine (IBT) dan 6-blade Rushton Turbine (RT). Beberapa model penting yang digunakan untuk mendisain dan melakukan simulasi CFD dalam penelitian ini adalah Eulerian Model untuk memodelkan system multiphase gas-liquid, Multiple Reference Frames (MFR) model untuk perputaran impeler, dan Laminar finiterate model untuk memodelkan reaksi fermentasi yang terjadi. Dari simulasi diperoleh visualisasi pola alir, kontur intensitas turbulensi, kontur fraksi volum biogas di dalam tangki, dan kontur distribusi kecepatan aksial biogas. Kecepatan putar, off-bottom clearance, dan jenis impeller mempengaruhi pola alir, kecepatan aksial, turbulen intensitas yang dihasilkan. Kondisi optimal diperoleh pada kecepatan putar 200 rpm, off-bottom clearance 0,75H dan impeller Inclined Blade Turbin. Pengaruh dari kecepatan putar impeller, jenis impeller, dan off bottom clearance, sebagai faktor hidrodinamika pada produksi biohidrogen berdasarkan simulasi telah dibahas dan hasil secara teoritis menunjukkam bahwa sesuai dengan hasil eksperimen secara kualitatif. ========================================================================================= Mixing has been shown to affect the biogas production process, anaerobic fermentative biohydrogen basis in particular. The hydrodynamic factors such as rotational speed off impeller, type of impeller and impeller configuration were also affected the bio-hydrogen production process which carried out in a stirred tank reactor. Different types of impeller and impeller configuration will give different flow patterns. Therefore, the yield of produced hydrogen gas will be different as well. To determine the effect of hydrodynamic factors on the biohydrogen production process in stirred tank, simulation using Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) will be conducted. CFD can predict fluid flow, heat and mass transfer, chemical reactions and other phenomena associated by solving a series of corresponding mathematical equations, so the hydrodynamic phenomena that occur in a stirred reactor can be seen. Understanding the hydrodynamic phenomena involved in the production of biohydrogen is very necessary for scale- up process . The study was carried out in 5L standard flat bottom cylindrical tank equipped with four radial baffles. The inside diameter of the tank is 0.18m. Two types of impeller, 6 - blade 45° Inclined blade turbine (IBT) and a 6 - blade rushton turbine (RT), were used in this research. The important models used to design and conduct this CFD study were the Eulerian model for the multiphase gas-liquid system, the multiple reference frames (MFR) model for impeller movement, and the laminar finite-rate model for reaction. Visualization of flow patterns , turbulence intensity contours, the biogas volume fraction contours and contours of axial velocity distribution of biogas in the reactor will be obtained from the simulation. The impeller rotational speed, off-bottom clearance, and impeller type affects the flow pattern, axial velocity, and turbulent intensity that is generated. Optimal conditions obtained at rotational speed of 200 rpm, off-bottom impeller clearance of 0.75H and at Inclined Blade Turbine Impeller. The effect of the impeller rotational speed, impeller type and impeller configuration, as a hydrodynamic factors in hydrogen production based on CFD,simulation were discussed and the theoretical results qualitatively well-agreed with the experimental results
