The evolution toward a higher use of renewable energies in the generation of electricity as a means of reducing the air pollutants and greenhouse gasses emitted to the atmosphere is the main objective in the current planning of the energy-mix development for most countries. To achieve this goal, the European Union has approved different directives and policies for both the short and longterm future, which aim to limit these emissions.
