Red leaf blotch of almond caused by Polystigma amygdalinum is one of the most important aerial disease of this fruit tree in Catalonia. Severe attacks of this pathogen causes an early defoliation, which progressively weakens the tree in successive crop cycles. The aim of this work was to expand the knowledge of the disease cycle in Catalonia, by specifically studying the primary inoculum production. Infected leaves from the last year, from two locations (Les Borges Blanques and Gandesa), were sampled every two weeks from January to July 2016.
