A simple analog 2nd order filter will be implemented using off-the-shelf devices with digitally programmable potentiometers to adjust its central frequency and quality factor to a reference signal. Also, a VHDL hardware description must be developed as digital potentiometers will be set by means of a Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) on a development board that contains the required analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog converters. An SPI bus will be used to communicate the FPGA and potentiometers and converters.
