The modelling of aquifers has been for many years and it is still one of hydrogeology main objects of study. The need to predict the water flow behaviour and solute transport in the subsurface has led to several methods for this purpose, being stochastic estimation methods part of them. However there are still gaps in the characterization of the most important aquifer properties such as connectivity and preferential flow, and the influence they may have on other parameters such as transmissivity.
