The purpose of this paper is to provide ananalytical approach to the thermal behavior of a longitudinal flux flat linear switched reluctance motor (LSRM) suitable forthe early stages of motor design. The approach uses a thermal model based on lumped parameters and adapted to theparticularities of LSRMs. The thermal network is solved using the widely recognized Matlab-Simulink software. The proposed analytical approach was verified by means of experimental measurements and thermographic analysis
