The purpose of this paper is to study the endeffects in a double-sided linear switched reluctance motor(LSRM). Switched reluctance motors (SRM) and by extensiontheir linear counterpart, LSRM, have been widely studied usingtwo-dimensional finite element analysis (2D FEA). End effectsare not included in 2D FEA, even though these effectsconsiderably increase unaligned inductance. This paperdescribes a procedure that takes into account the end effects influx linkage, inductance and force profiles on LSRM. It is basedon 2D FEA corrected by the inclusion of end-windinginductance and several empirical coefficients. The results ofthis approach closely coincide with experimentalmeasurements
