Bitumen ageing plays a significant role in determining the resistance of asphalt mixes to fatigue cracking. Regardless of the type of ageing (oxidation during manufacture or during the service life), hardening effects increase the risk of cracking. The objective of this work is to examine the combined effect of the loss of volatiles and oxidation produced during ageing on the fatigue behaviour of the bitumen.
