A biobleaching sequence was applied to sulphite pulp in order to explore new bleaching possibilities using enzymatic treatments. Therefore, the well-known laccase-mediator system was used with the aim to achieve dissolving pulp characteristics. The enzymatic sequence was compared with a conventional hydrogen peroxide treatment in order to elucidate the effect of a laccase stage (L) for a potential industrial application. The treated pulps showed satisfactory results: high cellulose reactivity, high brightness and low content of hemicellulose
