This is the fourth research of a series that began in 1993 at the Centre for Legal Studies and Specialized Training. This time we studied the released inmates who left a Catalan prison in 2010 and we monitored them until December 2013 in order to see if they re-entered in prison. The number of subjects studied is 3,414. We looked into 118 variables (personal, family, social, criminal and penitentiary). For the first time, we included and analyze individual risk factors of committing new violent crimes. The research provides the current rate of prison recidivism in Catalonia (30.2%), that decreases 10 points regarding the previous one, and analyzes the reasons that can justify the fall.
