ABSTRACT Background: Uric acid is a result of purine metabolism, increased intake of purines will lead to accumulation of urate crystal. Hyperuricemia is a condition of high uric acid levels in blood. Some of research showed hyperuricemia may become risk factor for the formation of urolith. Approximately 5-10% of stones are formed from uric acid. Urinary stone disease, also known as urolithiasis, is the third most common urological disease after benign prostatic hyperplasia and urinary tract infection.
