Precisiones Conceptuales de Alfabetización en Información

This document describes the meaning to achieve all three levels of competences, the characteristics and properties to consider an Information Literacy program (Alfin) and the importance of being part of the institutional curriculum. The second section refers to the main Declarations and Models on information literacy worldwide, analizing the rules on competence for access and use of information between American Library Association/Association of College & Research Libraries (ALA/ACRL), Council of Australian University Librarians (CAUL) and Australian and New Zealand Information Literacy (ANZIL). With this activity we find the points of convergence that support the creation of information literacy programs for higher education institutions. The third issue concerns the Information Literacy in Mexico that describe the eight information competencies and the 45 derived skills to set subcompetences for information literacy programs. On the subject of planning it is considered the time frame from its historical background and evolution of information literacy. Are included the mention of the most important documents produced internationally on curricula formulated in terms of skills for an information and media literacy. The paper concludes with a extensive search of successful applications of information literacy in Spanish-speaking countries in order to identify good practices and case studies to facilitate the built of new programs or in restructuring programs according advances in the field of information
