Un acercamiento desde la pedagogía critica a la biblioteca pública como espacio para la formación ciudadana

The article is part of a reflection that has emerged through the doctoral dissertation "The public library as a place for citizenship education", in the doctor in Education Program at the Universidad de Antioquia. Three main themes are the axis for the development of the research ideas: critical pedagogy as the theoretical basis, citizen's education offered by the public library; and the areas where critical pedagogy, citizenship education offered by the public library merge together. From these standpoint an invitation is made to social dynamics, as long as its achievements contribute to overcoming educational, cultural, political, informational and recreational inequalities; that is the public library promotes the democratization or information and knowledge, as an essential tool to achive social development with equit
