[Directions of research on the eighteenth century Polish press]: This article contains a brief overview of the research on the Polish press in the years 1729-1795 conducted by historians and press experts after 1945. A citation analysis was widely used in the evaluation of the research achievements. The researchers' interest in the press of the minority in the entire postwar period was relatively high. A total of 137 scholars worked in this area. They published 258 works cited within the native discourse (history press) 1450 times [including 607 times below the half-life indicator]. The greatest successes in the scope of the research on the eighteenth century Polish press were achieved by: Jerzy Łojek (19 works) [113 citatons], Danuta Hombek (16) [69], in this together with Stanisław Grzeszczuk (6) [41], Józef Szczepaniec (10) [50], Elżbieta Aleksandrowska (12) [50], Jadwiga Rudnicka (6) [15], Stanisław Salmonowicz (6) [11], Krystyna Bednarska-Ruszajowa (5) [6], Julian Platt (5) [6]. The achievements of this group of scholars constitute 32% of the works and as much as 52% of the citations. The eighteenth century press was frequently chosen as the object of dissertation (5 postdoctoral dissertations and 24 doctoral dissertations). The greatest achievements were noticed in the area of research on information press (100) [344], and poorer achievements were noticed in case of periodical press (158) [264]
