The retrieval of evidence-based nursing (EBN) literature is very important for evidence-based practice. Nurses’s information needs require a good level of competence in searching biomedical databases and search engine, in order to achieve satisfactory results. The nursing librarians are the best experts in this field and can give a valuable support to nursing students. The aim the aim this article is to supply notions, techniques and cognitive basis tools to the search of nursing information, a new tool in the librarian’s reference activity. The last part of the article describes reference librarian competencies
