Serveis de biblioteca pública en espais oberts

This article reviews the new spaces occupied by public libraries, starting with the adaptation of services associated with persons' needs. The first push in this process was with bookmobiles that brought library services closer to those persons that could not make use of them previously. There followed, in the 1980s, an explosion in library services in public spaces, to such an extent that libraries were set up in public centres, metro stations, pools, beaches, markets, etc. In this way library services have been able to extend to other segments of the population and contribute to overcoming social exclusion
