The integration of information systems and databases in the field of scientific information neglects the aspect of compatibility and concordance between controlled vocabularies (semantic heterogeneity). Especially the semantic relations, mappings or cross-concordances between the underlying Knowledge Organization Systems (KOS) play a crucial role for the subject access of heterogeneously indexed collections. This paper describes the adoption and examples of cross-concordances in the project “Competence Center Modeling and Treatment of Semantic Heterogeneity” (KoMoHe) and the net of the terminology mappings established.
