Alfabetización informacional en el ámbito sanitario

Introduction - One of the most necessary missions in the libraries, in the era of the information, is to assume a definitive protagonism in “informational literacy”. The increasing amount and complexity of the informative resources in Internet, at the same time this shows new possibilities of approaching a permanent self formation, force to acquire new abilities so that each individual establishes an effective relation with the information that leads to the knowledge generation. This exposition, which is valid in any discipline, has a strong presence in the scope of sciences of the health, where the documentary resources have been traditionally pioneering in quality. Nevertheless this reality has not been accompanied by a change in the educative models, that begin to react slowly (at least in our country). Of this form we were, in the sanitary scope, with a high percentage of professionals who are related very superficially to the world of the information. Proposal - the present work exposes the experience of configuration of a program of information literacy, of the library of the Hospital Virgen de la Victoria (Personal of the center: 422 facultative ones, 174 in formation, 630 nurses): The project proposes a “Factory of Documentation” that throughout three years has distributed a course of 20 h. Structure in 8 modules composed of theory and practice which gather the following subjects: Necessities of information; Sources of information in Sciences of the Health; What is a data base and how does it work? ; How does interrogate a data base?: Bibliographical strategy search; Bases epidemiologists in clinical investigation; Search of quality: Evidence Based Medicine; Critical reading of biomedical Literature; Document obtaining. For not entering in contradiction with the basic proposals of this formation, all the materials of the course are available in the Web page of the library (Intranet).
