Effect Of Noni Leaves Extract (Morinda Citrifolia L.) Supplementation In Feed On Broiler Performances

The purpose of this research was to investigate the effect of noni leaves extract (Morinda citrifolia L.) supplementation in feed on broiler performances including feed consumption, body weight gain (BWG), feed conversion ratio (FCR), and Income Over Feed Cost (IOFC) and to determine the best treatment which enable to optimize the broiler performances. The material used one hundred and twenty 8-days old broilers of unsex Lohmann strain. The average initial body weight was 125.85 ± 10.49 (g) and the coefficient of variation 8.34%. They were reared until age of 35 days. The research method was experiment used 6 treatments with 4 replications. Each replication used five broiler chickens. The treatments were T0: Basal feed (control); TA: Basal feed + 0.05% tetracycline antibiotic; T1: Basal feed + 0.05% noni leaves extract; T2: Basal feed + 0.1% noni leaves extract; T3: vi Basal feed + 0.15% noni leaves extract; T4: Basal feed + 0.2% noni leaves extract. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance based on Completely Randomized Design (CRD). If significant effect appears it would be continued by Duncan Multiple Range Test. The result showed that there was significant effect (P<0.05) of noni leaves extract supplementation in feed on feed consumption but there were no significant effect (P>0.05) on body weight gain, feed conversion ratio, and IOFC. Conclusion of this research was supplementation of 0.1% noni leaves extract (Morinda citrifolia L.) in feed increased feed consumption (2801 ± 62 g/bird), but did not increase body weight gain (1455 ± 131 g/bird), feed conversion ratio (1.94 ± 0.19), and Income Over Feed Cost (IOFC) (IDR 9286 ± 2961)
