Previous findings have suggested that social cognition are affected in individuals with schizophrenia. The aim of this study was to investigate emotion recognition deficits in groups of schizophrenic patients and their unaffected mothers. Fifty eight schizophrenia patients’ mothers and 51 healthy age-matched women, 65 patients with schizophrenia and 53 healthy age-matched males completed the Face Memory Task and Face Recognition Task with a set of 40 photographs of faces including the five universal emotions as well as neutral faces.
