Macrophytes are the biological filter, have its strong influence on circulation of chemical substances in ecosystem and quality of water in lakes. Thickets of water plants precipitate a plenty of mineral and organic suspensions. In the tissues and substratum they accumulate chemical substances, ions of heavy metals and radionuclides. Macrophytes arc capable to accumulate sabstances in the concentration exceeding its contents in an environment. This property has defined their use in the system of monitoring of the macrophytes and the control of a condition of reservoirs over National Environmental Monitoring System of Republic of Belarus
