Career counselling in the context of lifelong learning

This study aims to present a variety of issues as part of lifelong learning discourse in connec- tion with career counselling. These two notions, i.e. lifelong learning and career counselling, outline the perspective of the papers included in this volume and serve as the basis of the theoretical framework. Globalisation, technological advances, changes in the field of work, cultural change, complexity and uncertainty as common features of the contemporary world: these all pose challenges for individuals and societies. These issues form the background for the analysis of lifelong learning and career counselling, career planning as a process in the context of the changing labour market, which provides both an opportunity but also the neces- sity to choose from a variety of educational offers, within the institutional system and outside it. Lifelong learning is presented as a dominant feature of educational discourse, one which plays an important role in economic debates regarding the labour market, productivity and unemployment. This volume provides theoretical frameworks for the issues analysed, which are also presented against the background of significant features of the contemporary labour market and certain social situations as they provide the context for educational and counsel- ling strategies and activities.Zamysłem publikacji jest ukazanie zróżnicowanych problemów jawiących się w dyskursie całożyciowego uczenia się w powiązaniu z problematyką doradztwa zawodowego. Dwie kategorie pojęciowe, jakimi są: uczenie się przez całe życie oraz doradztwo zawodowe, zarysowują perspektywę prezentowanych w tomie analiz, stanowiąc w przyjętych założeniach ich ramy kategorialne. Globalizacja, zmiany technologiczne, zmiany w obszarze pracy, przeobrażenia kulturowe, złożoność i niepewność jako cechy charakterystyczne współczesnego świata stanowią wyzwania zarówno dla jednostek, jak i dla społeczeństw. W ich tle usytuowane są analizy ukazujące doradztwo zawodowe i całożyciowy, procesualny charakter planowania kariery w sytuacji zmian na rynku pracy i możliwości, a zarazem konieczności wybierania ze zróżnicowanego wachlarza ofert edukacyjnych, zarówno po stronie zinstytucjonalizowanego systemu, jak i spoza niego. Całożyciowe uczenie się ujęte jest jako dominujący dyskurs edukacyjny, odgrywający rolę w debatach nie tylko ekonomicznych, dotyczących rynku pracy, wydajności czy bezrobocia. W tomie ukazane są konteksty teoretyczne podejmowanych zagadnień, problematyka usytuowana jest także na tle istotnych zagadnień współczesnego rynku pracy i wybranych sytuacji społecznych, jako tła konkretnych strategii oraz działań edukacyjnych i doradczych
