Cooperatives are an important economic factor for the Federal Republic of Germany, especially in the sector of agriculture. The increase of economic internationalisation or concentration, and a developing capitalistically-aligned market caused the German legislation to adjust company laws, especially the cooperative law, in order to be able to adapt to those changing settings.
