Contrary to what has been the case in other historical moments, one of the main features of recent Nigerian literature is that, in many instances, it is written by women. Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie has undoubtedly become one of the new voices that, in the last few years, have strongly emerged on the African literary scene. Her understanding of African feminisms as well as her interest in redrawing the images of Africa and Africans that are often prevalent in the West have greatly influenced her writing.
