Jounal’s literary criticism –a complex and flexible genre that combines exposition and argumentation, description and evaluation and that is subjected to strict space limitations– can be a useful linguistic and literary teaching resource at faculties of education. The design of the didactic sequence (sd) «Literary criticism as an argumentative text», and its implementation in the first year course at the Faculty of Education of the Universitat de València Spanish Language for Teachers, has enabled us to value the opportunities that this genre offers for teaching-learning languages and to help students become familiar with the it.
