Role models, mentoring and professional women’s networks: educating in feminist values in order to promote ethical leaderships

From previous research about the women’s presence in top management positions, we have detected two traits of great interest for Gender Studies and Education. Firstly, the lack of women in leadership positions is at the same time, a lack of role models where other professionals can be reflected, there is a lack of leadership models from which professional women can learn. Secondly, the high competitiveness and isolation of these women leaders promote their resistance to create support networks. So our main focus is to reflect on the need to promote mentoring among women as an educational tool to open the senior managerial gender equality. Finally, it will be emphasized that women networking are vital to achieving gender equality in business from a feminist perspective.A partir de anteriores investigaciones sobre la presencia de mujeres en cargos de dirección empresarial, se han detectado dos rasgos de gran interés para los Estudios de Género y la Educación. En primer lugar, la escasa presencia de mujeres en posiciones de liderazgo supone una carencia de role models donde otras profesionales puedan verse reflejadas, careciendo de modelos de liderazgo de los que aprender. En segundo lugar, la alta competitividad y soledad de estas líderes fomentan su resistencia a crear redes de apoyo. Así pues, nuestro principal objetivo se centra en reflexionar en torno a la necesidad de promover el mentoring entre las mujeres profesionales como herramienta educativa para abrir la alta dirección empresarial a la igualdad de género. Por último, se pondrá de relieve que las redes de contactos entre mujeres resultan vitales para alcanzar dicha igualdad, eso sí, en clave feminista
