Este trabajo sostiene que The Road, de Cormac McCarthy, es una guía de supervivencia en un mundo que ha sido destrozado por una catástrofe desconocida. El trabajo proporciona un análisis de los diversos elementos y símbolos que el libro presenta como esenciales a la hora de sobrevivir en un escenario sin naturaleza. A la vez, el texto ofrece una serie de elementos que, dadas las condiciones de tal mundo, no sólo ya no servirían para sobrevivir, sino que además serían un impedimento para ello teniendo en cuenta las circunstancias a las que los protagonistas están sometidos.
