This study aims to investigate the rhetorical awareness of music teachers and the use of rhetorical tools in ensemble teaching. The background to the study is our desire to deepen the knowledge of the advantages of rhetoric in music education. The study is primarily based on qualitative, semi-structured interviews and secondarily on observations. These are completed with four music teachers who teach at upper secondary level. The result shows that the music teachers use several of the tools and ideas of rhetoric but have limited formal knowledge of rhetoric which implies that they cannot put words on these with theoretical concepts.
