Over the last two decades there has been a significant increase in privatised areas in the Swedish public sector. The aim of this thesis is to investigate how this has been motivated and formulated in the Swedish parliament. This is done by analysing the motions for privatisation that have been presented in the Swedish parliament between the years of 1990 and 2000. The hypothesis is that there are discourses concerning privatisation and nationalisation that need to be discussed and problematised. This will be done by using a theoretical framework mainly consisting of theories presented by David Harvey, Henri Lefebvre and Jürgen Habermas.
