The aim of this study was to examine whether visitors to family counseling intended to go to one or more sessions of counseling and whether the expectations and experiences of the first session affect the visitors intention. It was a quantitative study that consisted of two parts, a survey and a structured interview. The participants in the survey answered the survey before their first counseling session. The structured interview was performed by telephone shortly after the first counseling session.
