The aim of the study was that in the light of societies individualization, examine foster parents and social workers perspective on family life and parenthood in the foster care. The method of the study was qualitative with semi-structured interviews. Three foster home and four social workers were interviewed. The questions that were asked were mostly about familiy life, parenthood, caring, gender roles and the cooperation between the foster homes and social workers. The empirical material were analyzed with prior research and with the theory of governmentality.
