Det för/senmoderna familjehemmet - En kvalitativ studie om föreställningar kring familjeliv och föräldraskap inom familjehemsvården

The aim of the study was that in the light of societies individualization, examine foster parents and social workers perspective on family life and parenthood in the foster care. The method of the study was qualitative with semi-structured interviews. Three foster home and four social workers were interviewed. The questions that were asked were mostly about familiy life, parenthood, caring, gender roles and the cooperation between the foster homes and social workers. The empirical material were analyzed with prior research and with the theory of governmentality. The result showed that both foster parents and social worker have a postmodern perspective about caring and gender roles. When it comes to family life, the collectivism was much more important and present than the individualism which is in contrast to the postmodern familiy life were individualism plays an important role. A conclusion was: despite that the interviewees mostly had a postmodern thinking about gender roles and parenthood/family life, the foster care were directed towards a premodern family life were caring and the collective interests comes before the individual interests
