Mer problem, mindre hjälp? En studie av hur olika områden inom en och samma socialtjänst arbetar och samverkar avseende individer med dubbeldiagnos/samsjuklighet

Individuals with mental illness and a contemporary substance addiction has been more and more noticed within social work and issues on interaction between different instances that have a mutual responsibility for the individual has been illuminated within research. It has shown that the goal of interaction between for example Social Services and the Psychiatry has been difficult to achieve. We have, based on current research, not found any information about interaction within the same organization which has interested us during our work-based training within the Social Service, on some occasions, noticed how individuals ended up without help when they had needs that belonged to both the Adultery units Adult care and the Social psychiatry. An ongoing reorganization within the organization has leaded to that social secretaries from both areas are now working in joint teams. However the Support team from the Adult care and the Rehabilitation team from the Social psychiatry are still working separated. We have, using qualitative interviews and literature, studied how the work within a Social Service in a bigger city in Sweden with individuals with dual diagnosis/co-morbidity have been and are supposed to be done, from the ongoing reorganization. We have used organization theory and a symbolic perspective to get a better understanding for how an organization can work. From both literature and respondents, we have implicit that the concept dual diagnosis/co-morbidity is both complex and ambiguous. From the respondents we have come to that it is important to see all needs of the individual and work with the addiction and the psychiatric problems at the same time. Regarding the Adultcare and the Social psychiatry, we have noticed that it differs slightly between the units which problem area to be treated before the other. However, there is a desire to cooperate between the units. We also have implicit that the new formed organization can create good opportunities for the individual where he now is going to be investigated as an adult case instead of belong to the Adultcare or the Social psychiatry
